As you all know, Jefferson College of Health Sciences (often abbreviated and known locally as JCHS and Jefferson College), was located in Virginia. Their major is health science and they offer many things to support your goal such as continuing education and volunteer opportunities near campus and abroad.

History
At first it was build it was not even a college. Back in 1907, a doctor named Dr. Hugh Trout Sr. built Jefferson Hospital with only 40 bed facility. Because there were not enough nurses in that area he built the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing. The school worked together with the Lewis-Gale School of Nursing which was built nearly at the same time then those two schools decided to combine on 1965. The combination resulted a new name as the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley School of Nursing. And it was on 1982 they established a college of health science and it was the first hospital based college in Virginia. In 2003, the College officially changed its name to Jefferson College of Health Sciences.

Academic Departments
Jefferson College of Health Sciences has 15 majors in four academic departments. The departments are Department of Rehabilitation and Wellness, Department of Community Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Department of Arts and Sciences.

There are several achievements from some of the major in Jefferson College of Health Science. For example The Occupational Therapy major has been ranked number 100 according the U.S News and World Report. While the Physical Therapist Assistant major has houses the Radford University for its Physical Therapy program. The Physician Assistant major has been ranked number 70 currently based on the U.S News and world Report too and the Bachelor Degree in nursing also has been ranked number 265 according to the U.S News and World Report too.

Nickname and Mascot
Jefferson College of Health Sciences has a nickname which is the "Blue Healers". The nickname means the color of their school and their function as a health provider for those who need it. The school, like any other school, has a mascot. Well their mascot is quite cute and it’s derived from one of my favorite dogs, a St. Bernard.
